Idol Top 12 (Mike)

First things first: I’d like to pat myself on the back for correctly predicting that Ashton would be sent home last week.  Now to this weeks performances (this post will be short and sweet….lots of law school stuff to take care of):

Naima - I agree with Will that she’s comfortable on stage, however I still find her extremely awkward.  Like last week she sounded good at times and awful at times.  I’m really not a big fan and I don’t see her lasting very long.  One thing to note, my buddy was at the live show and he said that Naima sounded much better live than on television.

Thia - I’m really starting to dig the Michael Jackson sound in her voice but it only creeped in for a second during this performance.  The song choice was crap and because of it she could be in trouble this week…although I think she deserves to stick around.

Paul - Paul picked a perfect song and did it justice.  He always entertains while on stage and his voice came across much stronger this week even though he was sick.  I hope he sticks around for a while but his unique style could hurt him.

James - James could have chosen 10 songs better than this one.  He proved once again that he can hit high notes without great control and that his natural singing voice is pleasant but nothing special.  With that being said, I like that he brings rock to Idol on a consistent basis and I’m sure he’ll be around for a while.

Haley - She has a really cool voice and is the best looking girl in the competition, but she’s not very likable and didn’t make a smart song choice.  This could be goodbye for her.  She’s my pick to go home (I’m not happy about it though).

Stefano - For the first time this season I’ve enjoyed a Stefano performance.  I still don’t think he has an American Idol champion voice but he sounded good and showed some serious emotion.  He’ll stick around for sure….probably longer than he should.

Pia - Definetly her weakest performance.  She stepped slightly out of her comfort zone (ballads) and it showed.  She sounds good on big notes but it just didn’t work for me.  It won’t matter though…the show and judges love her.

Scotty - Scotty can sing country music…we get it.  At some point he needs to take some risks and until then I’m not impressed.

Karen - There is something about her personality that I love.  She definitely did better than last week but still nothing special.  She has a sweet voice but the power is lacking.

Casey - I am sold on this dude.  Easily the best performance of the night.  Took a huge risk and came through big time.  It would be a disaster if Will’s correct and Casey hits the bottom three.

Lauren - She wasn’t her best but she proved once again that she has the best voice of the bunch.  She makes it look so easy and her cute little back and forth with Ryan should only help her.

Jacob - Jacob has an incredible voice but it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.  I thought he sounded good throughout most of the song and fantastic at times.  Jacob will go pretty far in this competition.

My picks for the bottom 3: Karen, Haley, and Naima

Going home: Haley (I’m hoping its Naima though)
