Today at 1p Eastern, Steve Jobs will step on stage and talk about a bunch of new stuff. It’s something all Apple users anticipate and I’m no different.
At the same time, I have to take my car in to get inspected after the hail last week damaged it. Annoying but necessary.
The two events happening at the same time is one of those things that, just a few years ago, would have sent me into the shakes. “I can’t miss the Stevenote!” I’d think, “but it will take an extra week to get another appointment if I cancel.”
One of those things that Steve introduced a few years ago makes this conversation with myself moot. I can take my iPhone along with me and follow along on Twitter, or on a website, or there’s probably somewhere streaming the talk the same way they did with the Indy 500 last week.
The change in the last ten years to “always-on” technology, with wi-fi everywhere, a computer in every pocket, and communications technologies like Twitter and Tumblr have changed everything.
I just have to see what’s next.
